Glenn Merlin Johnson
Founder Glenn Merlin Johnson has spent 38 years as an Architectural Lighting Designer. He began his career in the San Francisco Bay Area in the family business, providing artistic lighting and electrical contracting for the most exclusive homes in the area. After obtaining a C10 General Electrical Contractors license, he moved to Southern California and formed Lighting By Design in Los Angeles. In 1992, he joined Spectrum Engineers in Salt Lake City, where he worked on luxury homes for a decade. In 2002 Glenn founded Adaptive Design Group Inc. and hand-selected his premiere team.
Jared Britton
From a young age, Jared has been captivated by architecture, particularly the interplay between light and various environments. Upon earning his degree in Illumination Engineering from the University of Colorado, he launched his career in luxury home lighting design. Since then, he has skillfully applied his expertise and creativity to illuminate numerous breathtaking residences. Jared is not only passionate about his craft but also an award-winning professional who consistently achieves remarkable results through a collaborative team approach.
Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson is a Principal and Architectural Lighting Designer based in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of the Boston Architectural College, he joined Adaptive Design Group in 2012 and brings a lifelong passion for architecture and the inextricable relationship between light and form. Raised in a multi-generational family of lighting professionals, Chris brings his intuitive design sense, artistic candor, and full-attention to his projects for subtle yet poignant architectural illumination. In his spare time, he can be found restoring old objects, making visual art, or recording sounds of the city.
Josi Kander
Josi brings a thoughtful balance of technical expertise and creative insight to every project. A licensed Professional Engineer with a background in Architectural Engineering, a Master’s in Building Systems Engineering and a PhD in Engineering Education, Josi is a master of her craft. In doing so she has contributed to a diverse portfolio of lighting design projects across residential, museum, and public spaces in New York City, Seattle, Denver, and Aspen. Outside the studio, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, daughter, and their three dogs.
Matthew M. Johnson
Matt graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on Power Systems. With experience in industrial medium and low-voltage power distribution, protection, and coordination, he looks forward to applying this experience to the custom residential world. Matt enjoys spending time with his partner Erin, 3 dogs, and a tortoise.
Filia Britton
Filia is a student at Utah Valley University and has been working with Adaptive Design Group since 2022. Her scope includes drafting lighting design in AutoCAD and helping with various other tasks. Outside of drafting, she enjoys philosophy, math, and music.

Jan M. Hilton
Jan’s interest in accounting was sparked during a college business class, where she realized how financial data can drive business success. She believes that accurate records are crucial for any thriving company. Her greatest joy is being a grandparent. Jan always has her grandchildren in her mind and heart and is delighted to become a Great-Grandmother soon!
Jorinda Nardone
Jorinda is a seasoned professional with 16 years of experience in luxury hospitality, having worked in some of the most sought-after locations across the United States. Currently, she leads Social Media Management and Business Development for ADG. Outside of her career, Jorinda enjoys spending time outdoors, baking, animals, and music.
Justin Johnson
Justin is a multidisciplinary artist and designer known for his expertise across various mediums. Whether it’s graphic design, web development, or any creative endeavor, Justin brings a stylish and refined touch to every project. His passion for aesthetics is complemented by a logical approach to design and processes. With a sharp attention to detail and grand scale planning, he maintains a balanced approach to his craft.
